It is the duty of public representatives and officials to protect and safeguard all citizens in their area of jurisdiction (women, men, youth, unemployed, students, farmers), to promote their welfare and progress, to improve educational standards, to create employment opportunities, and to successfully implement schemes that address the problems of farmers.

It is well known that until the public representatives and officials of a particular area come forward as excellent public servants, their sense of duty remains dormant.

Illegal businesses are a pestilence that hollows out and destroys society. It is not wrong to say that the neglect of such illegal businesses by public representatives and police officers indicates their direct or indirect connections with those involved in these illegal activities.

Public representatives have a network of thousands of workers, while the police department has Sub-Divisional Police Officers, Police Inspectors, Assistant Police Inspectors, Police Sub-Inspectors, Beat Constables, Police Constables, Police Patils, and informants who provide confidential information.

Considering the manpower of both, illegal businesses should not be able to raise their heads. In fact, they shouldn’t even be able to start in the first place. But, it appears that both the public representatives and the police department have set aside their duties.

Illegal businesses, such as liquor, gambling, and betting, have spread from cities to villages. Not only have they spread, but they are also having a tremendous impact on the social fabric.

People of all ages, from young children to the elderly, have become addicted to these illegal businesses. As a result, these illegal businesses have driven millions of citizens in Maharashtra state into poverty. The daily turnover of crores of rupees through this business is impoverishing many citizens and leaving them destitute. Yet, elected representatives and police officers do not pay careful attention to such illegal businesses. What should we call this neglect of their duty?

If it is the duty of a responsible government and administration to care for and protect all sections of society, then they should come forward to shut down these illegal businesses!
