To draw the government’s attention to various demands that have been pending for the last 10 years, Jagdish Meshram, the Taluka President of the Republican Sena, has warned that he will self-immolate at the historic Red Fort in Delhi on January 26, 2026.
The fact that the Sarpanch of Savari Gram Panchayat will also participate in this protest has caused a stir in administrative circles.
A struggle has been underway for the last decade to grant the village of Mauja Sardapar the status of an independent Gram Panchayat. Shockingly, for the last 10 years, this village has not been legally attached to any Gram Panchayat.
As a protest against this injustice, the villagers have not even voted in the Gram Panchayat elections for the last 10 years. This is a violation of democracy and the constitution.
“If justice is not served even after participating in the festival of democracy, then for whom should we vote?” Meshram angrily questioned.
The issue of roads is also critical…
Not only is the Gram Panchayat issue a problem, but the issue of connectivity in the area has also become serious. The two important roads, Mauja Savari to Bothli and Mauja Savari to Khapri, have not yet been assigned road numbers; consequently, approval for the road works has been delayed. These roads, if constructed, could solve the travel problems of the villagers in the area. However, Jagdish Meshram has alleged that despite repeated follow-ups, the government is neglecting the matter.
While fighting through democratic means, Republican Sena Taluka President Jagdish Meshram clarified that despite submitting numerous memorandums, the administration has only given promises. Therefore, he has decided to self-immolate at the Red Fort in Delhi, the capital of the country, on January 26, 2026, i.e., Republic Day. Notably, Loknath Ramteke, the Sarpanch of Savari Gram Panchayat, has also expressed support for this movement and will be participating in it himself.
“The injustice being done to Saradpar village has now become unbearable. This struggle will not stop until we get a separate Gram Panchayat and the road issues are resolved. If the government does not take notice of our demands, the administration will be responsible for the consequences,” says Jagdish Meshram.
A letter was submitted to the Prime Minister of the country via speed post on December 29, 2025. They have demanded that both these demands be fulfilled by January 26th, and if the demands are not met, they will assume that permission has been granted for the protest and will launch the movement.
Therefore, Jagdish Meshram has made it clear that this is not just a warning, but a fight for their rights.
The entire taluka is now watching to see whether the government and administration will wake up after this warning, or whether this movement will reach all the way to Delhi.
