The untimely demise of ‘Dada’, known in the politics of progressive Maharashtra as an efficient, diligent, quick-witted leader and a favorite of the common people, has created an irreparable void in the state’s politics.
However, the politics that has erupted after the Deputy Chief Minister’s death in a plane crash is creating a state of confusion among the general public. Former corporator and Bahujan leader Dr. Hulgesh Chalwadi has expressed the feeling that this is doing injustice to Dada’s achievements.
Dr. Chalwadi said, “It is impossible to have another leader like Ajit Dada. While the entire state is mourning his death, the political accusations and counter-accusations, internal discord, and the suspicion being spread about the accident, even before the mourning period is over, is extremely unfortunate.” He noted that such statements have confused not only the citizens but also Dada’s millions of supporters.
He expressed the fear that the internal differences between the two Nationalist Congress Party factions and the statements being made publicly are casting a shadow over Dada’s lifelong work. “The discussion should be about Dada’s work, his decisions, and his contributions to the people; it is not right to create confusion by politicizing the accident,” he added.
Dr. Hulgesh Chalwadi has appealed to the state government to intervene in this matter and curb misinformation, suspicion, and irresponsible statements. Dr. Chalwadi also urged the state leaders to ensure that their statements do not create any confusion and that they consider the public sentiment regarding Ajit Dada before making any statements.
