The event was organized with the objective of fostering social awareness among students and conveying the message of carrying forward the legacy of the work and thoughts of these great intellectuals.
The program was presided over by the college Principal, Dr. Anil Z. Chitade, while Dr. Abhilasha Gavture (MBBS, DCH) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered an enlightening address.
The event also witnessed the special presence of Dr. Dhananjay Dumbere and Dr. Alka Savlikar. Professors, non-teaching staff, and students attended the program in large numbers.
At the commencement of the program, the dignitaries paid homage to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule by garlanding their portraits. This moment created an atmosphere of deep respect and inspiration within the auditorium.
In her impactful and inspiring speech, Chief Guest Dr. Abhilasha Gavture instilled a sense of social responsibility in the students. She stated, “In today’s competitive era, merely obtaining a degree is not sufficient; rather, upholding human values and maintaining a strong bond with society is of far greater importance.” She urged the students to study the ideologies of Mahatma Phule and Dr. Ambedkar and to incorporate these principles into their own lives. She further stated, “Education is the most effective instrument for transformation. It is through education alone that societal inequalities can be reduced and every individual can be accorded equal opportunities.
Therefore, students should view education not merely from the perspective of building a career, but also as a medium for social service.” She specifically emphasized the importance of education to young women, conveying a message of self-reliance.
Furthermore, drawing upon her experiences in the healthcare sector, she elucidated to the students the significance of lifestyle choices, mental well-being, and social sensitivity. “Becoming a sensitive citizen, alongside becoming a competent professional, is the need of the hour,” she remarked. She inspired the audience to dedicate themselves to working for the underprivileged sections of society.
In his presidential address, Principal Dr. Anil Z. Chitade placed special emphasis on the importance of primary education. “Primary education serves as the foundation of a student’s life. Quality-oriented and compulsory primary education is indispensable for the creation of an empowered society,” he asserted.
He further added, “The ideals of equality, education, and justice championed by Mahatma Phule and Dr. Ambedkar remain just as relevant today as they were in their time. It is the responsibility of every individual to propagate these ideals and to conduct themselves in accordance with them.”
Dr. Smita Kale delivered the introductory remarks for the program. While outlining the objectives of the event, she presented an overview of the contributions made by these eminent historical figures. The proceedings were anchored with great flair and effectiveness by Sarangi Dhote, which added a vibrant energy to the entire program.
