              The entire Chimur people are shocked after the incident of sexual assault on two minor girls in Chimur city came to light and a large number of Chimurkars had reached the Chimur police station last night to demand the death penalty for the accused.

             However, under the guidance of Chandrapur District Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Mukkama, Upper District Superintendent of Police Rina Janabandhu, and Chimur Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Chimur Police Station Thanedar Inspector Santosh Bakkal arrested both the aggressor youths in time. Both the accused belong to the minority (Muslim) community.

          Thanedar Santosh Bakkal had been vigilant in time to prevent the matter from escalating into a case of sexual assault.

            However, at night, the number of Chimurkars at Police Station Chimur had increased so much that the police had to struggle to pacify them, demanding the death penalty for the accused.

   

     Accused… 

          While the crowd gathered at Chimur police station was being pacified and explained, some people in the crowd pelted stones. Due to this, the glass of the police station broke and a stone hit a female constable. The police finally had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. It is reported that two people were severely beaten in this lathi-charge and were shifted to Nagpur for treatment.

           After this incident, the Chimur police have been alert and 10 helpers have been called from various police stations to prevent any untoward incident. Today, tight security has been maintained in Chimur.

Accused…

         Chandrapur District Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Mukkama, Upper Superintendent of Police Rina Janabandhu and senior officers and Chimur Sub-Divisional Officer Kishor Ghadge and Chimur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rakesh Jadhav are closely monitoring the matter, under the guidance of Police Inspector Santosh Bakkal.

Currently, there is an uneasy peace in Chimur.
