There are indications that the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company is preparing to implement a plan to deny two or more electricity connections in the same area and give “three phase” electricity connections altogether, and if this happens, there is a picture that there will be a big psychological and financial blow.
According to sub-head No. 22.5 of the Electricity Supply Act (2005), the matter is coming up that the electricity distribution company will use its ‘power’.
According to the above reference matter, the electricity consumer will now be denied two or more electricity meters for electricity consumption in the same area as per the Act.
For domestic and non-domestic or general use in the same area, the electricity user will have to demand a separate meter for each purpose, but the company’s policy is to have only one meter in the name of one person. Due to this, all ordinary electricity users will have to suffer a lot and suffer financially.
If father-son or two brothers live separately in the same area/building, despite the requirement as per the new rules, they will not get a separate meter for separate electricity use and this will be a problem.
In the future, electricity users will be more likely to suffer due to these new rules. If a single three-phase meter is approved in the same area without providing separate single-phase meters, the users will suffer a lot financially due to fixed size, increased unit rates and high rates after 100,200 units.
Experts say that if there is more than one block in a building, the electricity distribution company will reject two meters and show the “three-phase” line, which will cause a huge shock to consumers.
