Alapalli:- Bike riders often die due to non-use of helmets. Due to this, public awareness is also being created for helmet compulsion. However, helmets are still not used by citizens. The Motor Vehicle Act requires every person to wear a helmet while traveling on a two-wheeler. Interestingly, MLA Dharmarao Baba Atram of Aheri Assembly Constituency asserted that helmets are mandatory to avoid accidental deaths.
A grand free helmet distribution program was organized by Lloyd Metals and Energy Limited Company on the occasion of Safety Week on Thursday 1st June at Veer Baburao Chowk in Alapally. He was speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the program. Retired DGP SS Khandalwal was the president of the program, young cricketer Jitesh Sharma was the special guest, actress Nakshatra Medhekar was the chief guest, RTO Meshram, Atul Khadilkar, Sub Divisional Police Officer Sudarshan Rathod, Senate member Tanushree were the chief guests. Atram, ex-PS member Harsh Vardhan Atram, Sarpanch Shankar Meshram, Sub-Sarpanch Vinod Akanpalliwar and other dignitaries were present.
Speaking further, MLA Dharmarao Baba Atram made helmets compulsory in 2004 when I was the Transport Minister. However, Punekars opposed it. It has many benefits. Lloyd Metals Company has distributed around 1 thousand helmets by carrying out commendable activities. I am proud of this and he hoped that even after this, the company should conduct a camp and give licenses to the two-wheeler drivers through the RTO office.

Various dignitaries were welcomed by Lloyd Metals Company. As soon as the helmet distribution program was over, the citizens thronged to take selfies with the special guest. After the program was over, there was a dinner program for the dignitaries at the palace of MLA Dharmarao Baba Atram, where citizens gathered for a photo session with actress Nakshatra Medhekar and cricketer Jitesh Sharma.
