Today is the beginning of new year and Bhima Koregaon victory day.. both days are very important.

The period of independence is the empire of Peshwas and many monarchies supporting Brahminism.

However, during the rule of Bajirao Peshwa, a discriminatory casteist system was implemented which cruelly oppressed Manushki.

Lakhs of people visit Jaistambh near Bhima Koregaon in Maharashtra state on January 1 to pay homage to the soldiers who fought against casteism, which is said to be the tyranny of the Peshwas.

Bhima Koregaon is under Pune district and lakhs of people of the country visit Jayasthamb in Perne village near Koregaon Bhima and pay homage. This day is called Victory Day or Shaurya Day.

Bhima Koregaon war took place on January 1, 1818. Peshwai vs. Mahar battle i.e. justice battle against tyrant rule was fiercely fought on January 1, 1818. In this, 500 warriors of Mahars killed 28 thousand soldiers of Peshwas and won the battle against casteism.

As the country was under British rule during independence, they rejected the casteist tradition.

During Peshwa’s period, untouchability was practiced widely. According to this practice, Mahars were treated very badly. In opposition to this, Mahar soldiers fought for their self-respect and won.

After the battle of Koregaon Bhima, the British erected a 75 feet tall victory column on the banks of the Bhima river in memory of the soldiers and engraved the names of 49 Vir soldiers on it. Among them are the names of 20 martyrs and 3 wounded Mahar soldiers.

Even today, on the occasion of Bhima Koregaon Shaurya Day, lakhs of people in India have reached there to pay their respects and are paying emotional tributes.

Along with this, various social organizations and political parties have organized programs on the occasion of Bhima Koregaon Shaurya Day.

Popular and popular singers have highlighted Bhima Koregaon Shaurya Day through their enlightening songs as part of cultural programs.

However, it cannot be denied that Peshwa’s atrocities on the citizens of the Bahujan community are continuing even during the period of independence.
