Farmers are not just farmers, they are an important factor in the formation of this country and the voters who overthrow the government.
At the same time, farmers are a big force that bears the burden of loans taken by the government at the national and international levels. They are also the financial center of the central and state governments.
That is why it was necessary to take up two issues under the Revenue Maha Abhiyan of the central and state governments, “waiving off farmers’ loans and providing compensation for crop damage caused by heavy rains.”
Farmer loan waiver is a facility provided by the government, in which the debt burden of farmers is reduced. The Maharashtra government’s ‘Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Karzmukti Yojana’ has been launched in this direction,
But there is still a discussion going on between the state government and the farmers regarding loan waiver, because some people are demanding a blanket loan waiver, while the government is considering giving loan waiver only to needy farmers after conducting a survey.
Loan waiver is a relief given by the government to the borrower, due to which they do not have to repay the loan.
Current situation in Maharashtra…
Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Karzmukti Yojana (mjpsky): This scheme is for farmers and the details of this scheme can be seen on the mjpsky portal.
The Mahayuti government had promised loan waiver before the elections, but now the government is conducting a survey for loan waiver.
There is a debate on whether loan waiver should be for ‘plain’ or ‘needy’ farmers. Similarly, there is a thought of giving incentive benefits to farmers who repay their loans regularly.
However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his cabinet are not ready to waive off loans to farmers in general. Due to this, farmers in Maharashtra state say that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is not keeping his word.
Along with this, the damage to farmers’ agricultural products like paddy, soybean, and cotton due to heavy rains is causing very serious problems for them.
According to the government’s policy, farmers who produce paddy, soybean, and cotton in their own fields are given 100 percent financial assistance by the government under the crop damage compensation due to heavy rains.
However, the Maharashtra government itself has kept this policy in the cold and the farmers in Maharashtra state are bearing the brunt of the indifferent policy towards farmers…
This is why the central government and the Maharashtra government should have taken up the issue of a blanket loan waiver for farmers and providing 100 percent crop damage compensation under the Revenue Maha Abhiyan….
