While it is mandatory by law to hold a by-election within six months after the death of an MP or MLA, the Election Commission is going to break the constitutional framework by avoiding it.

If the responsibility cannot be fulfilled, we appeal to the Election Commission to resign and be free or hold by-elections immediately.

If these two things are not done, wherever the Election Commission is going, the people should hold demonstrations, take out marches and if they do not listen to the Election Commission, they should also attack the Election Commission, said Adv Prakash Ambedkar, the leader of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday.

Prakash Ambedkar said The Election Commission has no power to postpone the elections. The Election Commission is autonomous. Even the High Court orders for holding of elections are not followed.

The election commission is running on the instructions of the government. If the election commission is not fulfilling its responsibility, then the public has the right to ask for it.

Because people own this country. If the Election Commission is not listening, there should also be a protest. Protesting does not mean taking the law into one’s hands. It is the job of the Election Commission to enforce the law. If they do not do the work honestly and if the public revolts against it, then the Election Commission will be responsible for it.

The Election Commission should immediately hold elections in the constituencies of the deceased people’s representatives. Prakash Ambedkar criticized that if people’s anger increases, people will raise their voice and those who you are saving today will not come to save you.

Prakash Ambedkar said, the public expects that the Election Commission should operate impartially. Political parties are also afraid to take a stand on this issue, due to which the Election Commission is in trouble. Elections are won and lost, but the responsibility of maintaining the system created by the constitution is the responsibility of the political party and more so the Election Commission, said Ambedkar.
